No one wishes to lose a loved one and no one wishes to leave questions unanswered. The three forensic pathologists of CPA will make every effort to determine the cause and manner of death and identify significant disease processes through a thorough post mortem examination. Our examinations can be used to answer specific questions (i.e. " Did my father have Alzheimer's disease?"), establish a link between an environmental exposure and death (i.e. "Did asbestos exposure cause my husband's lung disease?"), or document a family history of specific disease (i.e. "Did my mother have breast cancer?"). Most autopsies can be scheduled within 24-hours of your request and reports are routinely finalized in 2-4 weeks. Our pathologists are also skilled in courtroom testimony should that be required. Our laboratory is capable of processing routine tissue samples for microscopic analysis and diagnosis within 24 hours of receipt of sample. Our pathologists have post-residency training in hematipathology, gastrointestianl pathology, genitourinary pathology and microbiology. Colorado Pathology Associates has a large battery of immunohistochemical stains at our disposal to evaluate difficult cases. For the rare "One in a Million" case, we consult with only the best including Drs. Page, Kurman, Epstein, Fletcher, and Montgomery. Flow cytometry is a state of the art technique which is indispensable in the diagnosis and follow-up treatment of leukemias and lymphomas. It can also evaluate DNA content in solid tumors, which may be of prognostic significance. Our laboratory will perform testing within 24-hours of receipt of a specimen at our office. We have arrangements with local and national referral laboratories to perform in-depth molecular studies, FISH and cytogenetic studies as needed.
